An online, men-only club has launched to help British males fight the fat. www.mensconfidential.co.uk will allow men to share size and weight issues without having to actually show off love handles and beer bellies.
Members can use the site’s information to make their own goals and monitor their progress weekly, while receiving support from the online community. They can even choose whether to remain anonymous or to share information – but many men are expected to share tips and ideas. Joining the site, which costs from £2.99 a week, comes with access to an array of nutritionists, personal trainers and psychologists to answer members’ questions, and there are graphs and charts, healthy eating plans, easy-to-prepare recipes, targeted and progressive fitness programmes and motivation tips. The site’s creator, Jackie Nixon, said, "We aim to help men pursue a healthier lifestyle, and to live longer and more active lives. "Weight loss is achieved by controlling both food intake and by exercising. With tools to monitor progress and the ability to share hints and tips confidentially, we aim to provide men with an integrated online solution for effective weight loss." |

Mensconfidential.com follows in the footsteps of the likes of www.fatmanslim.com which also caters exclusively for men. When he launched the fatmanslim kit in 2002, Dr Ian Campbell predicted that, if just one in 200 overweight British men followed the programme, the weight of the nation would drop by more than 1,000 tonnes. |
