New research confirms –

It’s diet not dumbbells that dumps that gut!

Whilst it’s true that exercise will improve your health by reducing depression, heart disease, some cancers, and diabetes - it’s a poor route to weight loss on it’s own. This was found by the Physical Activity and Weight Management Research Centre at the University of Pittsburgh.

The main reason for this they found is that people tended to overestimate how many calories they burnt off during a workout – and then gave themselves a food reward that was sometimes more than the calories that had been burnt off.

It’s an easy mistake to make.

Here are some examples of treats that can defeat your objectives:

14 minutes of lifting weights        =        1 cappuccino
17 minutes on a stepper             =        1 smoothie
45 minutes running at 7mph        =        1 Blueberry muffin
16minutes on a rower                 =        2 finger Kit Kat
10 minutes on a bike                   =       1 low-fat yoghurt

In www.mensconfidential.co.uk you will find calorie controlled eating plans that will allow you to lose weight. We also show you what you can eat after exercising so that you won’t undo all your hard work.

Vitamin D could improve your health

A 2007 analysis of vitamin D studies found that those with higher vitamin D levels are 50% less likely to get colorectal cancer, and that those with low levels of vitamin D were 26% more likely to die in an 8 year period than those with high levels.

How can you boost your vitamin D levels?

Eat more tinned sardines, tuna or salmon, pickled herrings or hard boiled eggs. Alternatively get out into the sunshine for 20 minute stretches as often as you can, but take care not to get sunburnt!

In www.mensconfidential.co.uk  we suggest that you get out an walk for at least 15 minutes a day on 3 to 5 days a week, so you will be topping up your vitamin D levels and fighting off ill health whilst you walk. How easy is that?
